Plastic surgery
Breast reduction
Reduction changes both volume and shape. The surgeon removes excess tissue, reshapes the breast and usually repositions the nipple and areola. The aim is a size that suits your frame and priorities, while protecting the remaining tissues.
At a glance
Breast reduction in Lahore
Breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, removes breast tissue, fat and skin to reduce breast size and weight. It can address physical discomfort as well as concerns about proportion.
Your concerns
When breast weight affects everyday life
Reasons for considering reduction include neck, shoulder or back discomfort, bra-strap grooves, irritation beneath the breasts and difficulty exercising or finding supportive clothing. Assessment should also consider other possible causes of pain.
Overview
Smaller breasts, with reshaping
Reduction changes both volume and shape. The surgeon removes excess tissue, reshapes the breast and usually repositions the nipple and areola. The aim is a size that suits your frame and priorities, while protecting the remaining tissues.
Consultation & suitability
Discuss future plans and breast health
Tell the surgeon about breast symptoms, previous surgery, medicines, smoking, weight changes and plans for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Breast examination and imaging may be recommended. Pregnancy and significant weight changes can alter the result, so timing deserves careful consideration.
Treatment approach
The incision follows the reduction needed
Scar pattern
The scar pattern may run around the areola and vertically down the breast, with an additional line along the breast crease for a larger reduction.
Scar placement
The surgeon should show where your scars would lie.
Choosing the approach
Shorter scars are not automatically the best option for every breast shape.
Your treatment journey
Prepare for surgery and support at home
Reduction is usually performed under general anaesthesia. Dressings, a supportive bra and sometimes temporary drains are used afterward. Arrange help with transport and everyday tasks, particularly lifting, while early healing takes place.
Recovery & aftercare
Allow several weeks for recovery
Many people need one to two weeks away from desk work; physical work can require longer. Heavy lifting and strenuous exercise are restricted for several weeks. Follow instructions for wound care and bra support, and attend follow-up before increasing activity.
Results & expectations
Comfort and shape change at different speeds
The reduction in weight is immediate, but swelling can take months to settle. Scars fade rather than disappear. Breast shape also changes with ageing, pregnancy and weight fluctuations. The outcome should be judged against your agreed goals, not a guaranteed cup size.
Risks & considerations
Sensation, healing and breastfeeding matter
Risks include bleeding, infection, poor wound healing, asymmetry and changes in nipple sensation. Some changes can be permanent. Breastfeeding may become difficult or impossible, and nipple or areolar tissue can be damaged. Anaesthetic risks and the possibility of revision also belong in the consent discussion.
Alternatives & related care
Reduction and lift have different aims
A supportive bra may help manage discomfort without surgery. If the main concern is drooping rather than breast weight, discuss whether a breast lift addresses it more directly. Choosing to defer surgery while considering pregnancy or weight changes is also reasonable.
Frequently asked questions
Questions before you decide
Will the scars disappear?
No. They are permanent, although their colour and prominence usually soften over time. Your tendency to form raised scars and the incision pattern affect how noticeable they remain.
Can I breastfeed after breast reduction?
It may be possible, but it cannot be promised. Surgery can affect milk-producing tissue and its connections. Discuss this priority before deciding on treatment.
When can I return to the gym?
Do not use improvement in soreness as clearance for lifting. Exercise is commonly restricted for at least a month, and your surgeon should confirm the appropriate progression.

How outcomes are assessed
A meaningful outcome is considered in context: your starting concern, the agreed treatment plan, recovery and review over time.
